Public Works Trash Disposal & Recycling
HOUSEHOLD WASTE
Fairfield has a "Pay-per-Bag" trash system. Residents may purchase their trash stickers for $1.50 per bag (30 lb. bags) at the Town Office. After you purchase your stickers, you will bring your garbage to Pine Tree Waste, which is located on the Airport Road in Waterville. The hours for Pine Tree Waste are: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12 Noon. Their phone number is 873-1219.
Pine Tree Waste also accepts demolition debris at a cost of $92.00 per ton. There is a minimum charge of $23.00 on weekdays. On Saturday mornings, the cost is $.05 per pound with a $10.00 minimum charge. You may call Pine Tree Waste at 873-1219 for a list of other fees they may charge, as well as a list of acceptable waste streams, and non-acceptable waste streams and their costs.
Residents may also choose to hire a private garbage hauler. Some haulers are: Gregory's Disposal, 465-4500; Pine Tree Waste, 873-5664; CMD/MC Disposal, 872-8257; Landry's Rubbish Removal, 453-2469; Soule?s Disposal Service, 634-3716; and Bolster?s Rubbish Removal, 487-5048. The Town of Fairfield does not endorse any of the private haulers.
SPRING CLEAN UP
The Town offers an annual spring clean-up day in the month of May. Residents may leave items at the curbside and the Public Works Department will pick it up and dispose of it for you. Some items require a fee and stickers can be purchased at the Town Office. We do advertise the dates for the Spring clean-up in the local Morning Sentinel newspaper.
FALL HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL
The Town also offers a fall hazardous waste drop-off day in the month of October. Residents may bring their hazardous waste items to Pine Tree Waste in Waterville on the hazardous waste drop off day, free of charge. This date will be advertised in the local Morning Sentinel newspaper. Some examples of hazardous waste are batteries and paints. A flyer will be available at the Town Office with more specific information in late September.
RECYCLING
Fairfield residents may bring their recycling materials to Central Maine Disposal (CMD), which is located behind Lawry Brothers Funeral Home on Main Street in Fairfield. Their telephone number is 453-8390. Their hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to Noon. Central Maine Disposal is a full recycling facility, accepting plastics, glass, newspaper, cardboard, etc. Do not bring hazardous waste or electronics, as they will not be accepted.
