Yard/Garage Sale Permits
A permit for a yard/garage sale is required per the Public Safety Ordinance, Article 6 Section 8-610. The following conditions shall be met:
- A permit shall be issued by the Town Clerk for the yard/garage sale, and
- The Town Clerk shall register the yard/garage sale permit with the Fairfield Police Department.
The permit shall be posted in a conspicuous place. There shall be no more than three (3) sales a year permitted to any one person or for the same location during any calendar year. Each sale shall be no more than three (3) consecutive days. This permit may be canceled if in the opinion of the Police Chief or his/her designee there is a vehicular or pedestrian problem because of inadequate off-street parking arrangements.
No fee shall be charged for yard/garage sales.
Failure to comply with the public safety ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) for each violation.
